Breast Cancer Awarness Ribbon

Ladies in Pink this is the month of truth, power, strength, and survivors; this is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  I usually make a ribbon for myself and wear it around campus but since I have joined a sorority (Sigma Lambda Gamma) I have made some extravegant ribbons for myself and my sisters to sport at our Annual Pink Party to raise awareness for this cause.

Breast Cancer Ribbon

Materials

 1 skein of yarn in pink (any variations of pink; preferably light or deep pink)

I hook/9-5.50 MM

No guage is needed for this project

Patterns:
Row 1: Chain 33, dc in 3rd chain from the hook. and dc in each chain until the end. 

Finishing
Sew in loose ends, and fold fabric into ribbon shape sew together to secure it. 
If you want to jazz them up you can add jewels and put one in the middle or all around.

InFAMOUS SOulChild HEAD WRAP

 

The pattern that is now sweeping the crafter's world and shaking it to its core. It is the SOULCHILD HEAD WRAP.  This is a beautiful style brought to you by CafeCrochet in the Crochet Chronicles its a beautiful design that can be done in coolest yarn styles :D.  Video tutorial are provided.


Materials
Any color worsted weighted yarn

Size “N” Hook (9.00 MM)

PATTERN:

Chain 153 (Or more if wanted)

ROW 1:   1 dc in the 3^rd chain from the hook, chain 1, skip next chain, *1 dc,    chain 1, skip chain. Repeat *to end. Chain 3, turn.

ROW 2-13:  1 dc , ch 1 in the next dc.  skip next dc, *1 dc , ch 1 in the next dc. Skip next dc, repeat * til end. Fasten off.    

Finish:
Fold piece in half evenly and sew up the back (about 10 stitches) and leave the rest of the piece undone, which will be the portion that will tie.        

If you would like to make it bigger; proceed with this pattern

Personally, I know have a big head so you can make one accommadate your head size and you achieve this by crocheting more rows.

Learning the Guage/ Making Your Own Pattern

These is a reason we as crafters have a guage involved in making the project.  An some need to know the reason why we need this.

FIRST:
Get a guage ruler; it one of the essential of knitting and crocheting. 

SECOND:
Make a swatch that is at least 4x4 in. with intended yarn and needles needed for the project.

THIRD:
Record everything in you notebook or your Crafters Bible.

-I learned this a couple of days ago I never really paid attention guage. I only focused on the final project size.  But the guage is really important when doing a design chart whether it is INTARSIA, DOUBLE KNITTING (reversible), or FAIRISLE.  Helps you measure your piece and where to put your design on your work.  Some even make their chart before they guage their intended project that also may give them a idea of what they want. 

-To learn to USE an actual guage you can look on videos on youtube very easy tutorial if yor are a visual learner like myself but I the Mother of all things GLitter shall give you TIPS on making the guage.......after making your swatch is made....place gauge ruler on top of swatch and count number of rows and stitches (the Vs shapes) within your swatch vertical and horizontal.\

RAZZLE DAZZLE TOTE

Hello kittens it is the Mama Glitter come to you, for you.  I came up with this one by myself. This a prestigious student's dream bag to have.  It is more a totes purse for those EXTRA things you don't like to carry in your hand like your wallet, water bottle, extra composition notebook, etc...(you get it!) 

It could just be a regular tote purse what made mine dazzle was the design on the front.  This design was made from the hand-made intarsia knitting chart. 

You have 2 option in this situation to either:

(a). Search for a chart online that suits you

(b). Make one yourself like I did.  It is really easy you get a picture you like off the internet and some graph paper and free hand the drawings. 

This bag was recently just entered in the Vanna's Choice Contest.

Materials

Worsted Weight Yarn: Color of your choosing

Size 8 knitting needles

Design Chart

Tapestry Needle

Pattern

NOTE: This work will be a crinkley in the process of making it please remember to do a few tug and pulls throughout.

Front of the Bag:

Cast on: 50 sts

Row 1: Knit

Row 2: Purl

Continue with Row 1 and 2 until the work is about 12'' or if you have a knitting chart continue with Rows 1 and 2 for 6" following pattern accordingly.  To measure chart and pattern; put the pattern up to the position YOU want the design to be.  Start on the RS (right side- knit side) and following the chart

Back of Bag:

Do the same as front part directed except without the chart instructions

Straps (make TWO)

Cast on 80 to 150 sts (Depends on how long you want it)

Row 1-6: Knit

Finishing:

Put work with its right side faced down.  Put both piece together and sew the three sides together leaving an opening at the top. With the straps sew one straps on both side at 2" from each end of the bag.

You now have a glorious design bag all your own.

Pattern Tutorial:

Materials:
Size J crochet hook
One skein of any type of yarn you one

Glittery Note- How to Decrease: yo (yarn over) pull up loop, yo, pull through two loops, yo, pull up loop in next stitch, yo, pull through two loops, yo, pull through all remaining loops.

 Make a slip knot in yarn Ch. 3 and sl st with first ch.
 Round 1: Ch 3 (turning chain counts as first dc here & throughout), dc in center of ring 11 times (12 total).

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same stitch (this is what makes your increase is made), 2 dc in each stitch around ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 3: Ch 3, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next stitch*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in next stitch, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next 2 stitches*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 5: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 2 stitches, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next 3 stitches*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 6: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 3 stitch, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next 4 stitches*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 7: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 4 stitches, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next 5 stitches*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 8: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 5 stitches, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next 6 stitch*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Rounds 9-10: Ch 3, 1 dc in each stitch around (WORK EVEN--meaning do all dc around).

Round 11: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 5 stitches, *dc decrease in next 2 stitches, 1 dc in next 6 stitches*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 12: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 4 stitches, *dc decrease in next 2 stitches, 1 dc in next 5 stitches*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 13: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 3 stitches, *dc decrease in next 2 stitches, 1 dc in next 4 stitches*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 14: Ch 3, *1 dc in next 7 stitches, dc decrease (see above) in next 2 stitches, 1 dc in next 6 stitches*, continue from * to * ending with sl st in turning chain.

Round 15-19: Ch 2 (counts as first sc), sc in each stitch across. End row by joining with slip stitch in turning chain.

To make more of a slouch such as in the photos above just increase after Round 8.  Remember to keep your place do a stitch marker if needed.
